How to Prepare Your Home for a Custom Installation

A Simple Guide to Make the Process Smooth and Stress-Free

Ordering custom furniture is exciting — but installation day can feel overwhelming if you’re not prepared.

At Armadio Closets, we aim to make the entire experience seamless, from first design sketch to final screw. That includes helping you get your space ready before our team arrives.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you prepare your home for a smooth, stress-free custom installation.

1. Clear the Area

Before our team arrives, make sure the installation zone is completely empty. That includes:

  • Furniture in front of the wall
  • Items inside existing wardrobes or cabinets
  • Loose rugs or floor decor
  • Anything breakable nearby

Why it matters:

It saves time, protects your belongings, and helps us get straight to work.

2. Secure Access & Parking

Let us know in advance if:

  • Your building requires a gate pass or lift reservation
  • There’s limited parking near your entrance
  • There are specific delivery hours in your community

Why it matters:

Ensures smooth entry and avoids delays or rescheduling.

3. Protect Surrounding Surfaces

We take every precaution to protect your flooring, walls, and nearby finishes — but if you have sensitive surfaces (like freshly painted walls or marble floors), let us know.

You can also:

  • Cover nearby furniture with dust sheets
  • Remove light fixtures or art near the work zone

4. Prepare for Light Noise & Movement

While we install efficiently and cleanly, a custom build is still construction. There will be:

  • Some noise from tools
  • Minor dust (especially if demolition is involved)
  • Foot traffic through your home

Tip:

If possible, schedule installation during a quiet day at home — or step out while we work.

5. Keep Kids and Pets Safe

Out of caution and efficiency, it’s best to keep children and pets away from the work zone.

Why it matters:

Prevents injury, avoids distractions, and ensures faster installation.

6. Check Power Outlets & Lighting

Let us know where nearby outlets are for tools, and ensure the space is well lit. If the area is under construction, we may need temporary lighting.

7. Have Your Plan Handy

While we work from approved shop drawings, it’s always helpful if you have your final design plan or material samples nearby — especially for last-minute confirmations or adjustments.

8. Leave Time for a Final Walkthrough

Once installation is complete, we’ll walk you through the entire setup, test all moving parts, and answer any questions. This is your chance to give feedback and make sure everything is perfect.
